These vehicles had an interesting history, but were infrequent visitors to Southampton. Initially Bristol Greyhound coaches in cream/red livery, later changed to white/magenta, and then to this NBC local coach livery, as by then they were 10 years old. Most of the batch were transferred to Western National, where they donned NBC white coach livery, and returned to front line duties, and were seen more often in Southampton as a result.

Bristol OC made considerable use of their RELH DPs for express service duplication, as seen here on a journey which would appear to have terminated at Southampton. The Cheltenham service generally continued to Portsmouth.

NBC South West region introduced introduced a "corporate" style for coaches of subsidiary companies in that region, a couple of years before the introduction of the nationwide scheme. The base colour was always white, with a waistband in the operator's chosen colour, and a bold white fleetname. For reasons probably now lost in the mists of time, Bristol OC chose a magenta relief. At least the greyhound lived on, but the result was pretty dire. Just not as dire as the replacement in 1972.

Another vehicle carrying the short-lived NBC SW area livery of white with magenta relief. On this vehicle, a smaller fleetname has been used, which doesn't look so squashed as that on NHW310F. Foys Corner, Southampton.

Bristol Omnibus Company vehicles did not often pass through Southampton. In this case, a Swindon allocated RELH6L has worked a duplicate journey on the express service between Cheltenham and Portsmouth in 1973.

This early RELL6L is seen at Bath Bus Station, operating a local service. It seems to have been 'well used', but then, that's what one would expect from an RE. On the other hand, it doesn't harm the operator's image if its buses are well presented!
