Leyland Panther JKK207E at Southampton H&D depot
This Panther was repainted in Tilling red for Wilts & Dorset, but spent several weeks at Hants & Dorset Southampton depot.
These photos are mostly from the early 1970’s, and show the original incarnation of Wilts & Dorset, in the last few years prior to being swallowed up by larger neighbour Hants & Dorset. In practice the two companies had been ‘under common management’ since 1965, and the integration was a gradual process. A common fleet numbering system came in September 1971, and most W&D route numbers were increased by 200 in this period. However, some views from the era of the later re-incarnation of W&D are also included.
